Sometimes your next career step requires training and education. WorkSource Portland Metro can help you explore your options. Eligible Training Programs For a list of the type of training programs eligible for WorkSource funding click here. English Language Learning Designed for all levels of English language learners, this workshop provides access to internet-based English lessons. To sign up, talk to a WorkSource staff person or go to My WorkSource and sign up for the ELL Rosetta Stone workshop. Computer Skills Learning Workshops focus on providing hands-on computer skills. A beginner’s class covers computer basics such as using word processing. Other classes cover Microsoft Office skills, such as Word and Excel. Go to My WorkSource to sign up. Career Training Guidance Meet with a WorkSource staff person for answers to career training questions as well as guidance on developing a career plan. Call or visit your local WorkSource Center. Open Skills Labs Computer labs offer a professional setting to work on language and computer skills. You can also work on cover letters, resumes, GED prep and other learning activities. WorkSource Staff are on hand so you can ask for help when you need it. Go to My WorkSource to sign up. Bankwork$ Training Offered four times a year, this eight-week cohort training prepares you for an entry-level career in the financial services industry. Career Boost Offers occupational and skills building training specifically for SNAP (food stamp) recipients in Washington and Multnomah Counties. Health Careers NW Health Careers NW offers funding for career training in health care fields to job seekers receiving SNAP, TANF or Medicaid. The training enables qualifying participants to earn professional credentials. Additionally, Health Careers NW provides job placement assistance after training.
